Glen Onoko

Well these photos will only be new to Theresa and Pat, but I thought you guys would like to see them so that's why I'm posting. We spent about 3 hours hiking Glen Onoko Falls yesterday. The weather was perfect...almost a little too hot actually. It's just too bad there are no leaves on the trees yet. We had a really nice time though...and we got to play around with the "shutter priority mode" on our new camera! Here are some of our photos...

Notice Laura and Chris safely viewing this waterfall from below, while Jason tries to give me a heart attack by standing on the edge at the top!

Gardening :-)

Mom and Dad were nice enough to use their gorgeous Sunday morning to come down to Lansdale and help us fix up the flower bed in front of Dorothy's place. Thanks again Mom and Dad!

Now, we forgot to take the "before" shot, so you'll have to use your imagination and picture all of these weeds...

Here where there's now all bare dirt:

Pippin was our foreman..."Mom, I think you missed a weed over there..."

Mom and Dad were also nice enough to bring us down some lilies and hostas that they separated from their own flower bed. Here's the finished product. It looks a little bare now, but we want to wait until May before filling in with some pretty annuals.

And I thought Mom would like to know that as soon as you and Dad left Pippin started playing with the mouse you made her for Christmas...
Only with the power of catnip can she manage to pull off these crazy yoga moves...
And then Piper had to pose with the catnip mouse so that I would take her photo too (she doesn't like to be left out)... :-)

Here are two photos of the cake pops that Shannon, Tara and I made for Easter this year. They didn't quite turn out like they were supposed to, but everyone still seemed to like them. :-)

Abbey's up and going in her walker now -- she apparently spent most of Easter following Bogey around until he realized that he could hide under the table. So she stood there and waved at him instead :)

We took advantage of the beautiful day yesterday to put in our "little" sidewalk. Dad had the spot dug out already, so we just had to add the layer of stone...

then the sand, (getting the sand level and even took some time) and then the pavers...

once we were happy with the placement of the pavers, we had to brush fine sand between the cracks, which was very time consuming...

and the finished product...

Now...on to the next project, a sunroom perhaps!! ;)

Pat was looking at the Nature Conservancy website today (it's one of the charitable organizations we donate to), and look what he found! They're using one of his flickr pictures for their ecards: http://my.nature.org/birds/experience/ecards.html (Pat says it's not one of his favorite pictures, but I still think it's cool that they picked it as one of their 8 ecards!)

Another bad hailstorm just went through Jim Thorpe. We could hear the hail hitting the trees up on the mountain before it started falling by the house. It looked like a white-out at times. At least the van was in the garage this time, unfortunately dad's truck had to weather the storm. Here are a couple of photos of what the storm looked like...

This was the biggest one we could measure from the safety of the garage....

Looks like the storm is over, now to check for damage!

Hey guys! We thought we'd post a few quick photos of our first day's adventures :) The backdrop for all of our adventures has been the Cascade and Olympic Mountains, of course:

We went hiking in the Skagit Wetlands this morning and saw some cool birds, including this short-eared owl:
And some bald eagles too! This is a juvenile, so he doesn't have the coloration down quite right yet:
Do you see the momma bird in the nest?
A whole field of snow geese!
Then a car drove by and spooked them...
...all of them!
Next, we went to Anacortes to catch a ferry to the San Juan Islands! This is a view of another ferry on it's way back (we figure we must've looked the same)
When we finally made it to Orcas Island, there was another ferry blocking the dock! So we waited.
After checking into our house, we went hiking in Moran State Park and found some waterfalls!
...bigger than anticipated. (Do you see us getting wet?)
Pat's becoming very professional with his photography (all of the pros wear their hats backwards and have one muddy knee and beautiful models for their pictures, we've heard)
Shot of T & P taking a well-deserved break in front of Cascade Lake.
(If you think that's cute, you should see the next picture in the series where Pat's trying to push Theresa in...)

That's all for now! We're having a blast but we miss you all of course. Will post more pictures later :)

So Pat and I made brackets on espn.com for the March Madness Tournament (yes, I made mine in about 2 minutes by blinding clicking whichever team struck my fancy...) And guess what? After the first two rounds, I'm in the 94th percentile of all entrants on espn! I picked 15 of the Sweet 16, do you believe that? Amazing how that jr high basketball knowledge comes back later in life... ;)
